Clinical Study of the Calcaneus Fracture

Abstract
|

|
Twenty cases of calcaneus fractures in 18 patients were analysed and reported in this paper. Seven-teen cases were treated conservatively by elevation and early crutch walking with walking casts. ~ Among the remaining 3 cases, 2 were compound comminuted fractures which were treated by debridement and open reduction, The other one was an avulsion fracture which was treated by open reduction and screw fixation.
The result of treatment was evaluated as follows:
Nine cases, which were treated conservatively, had normal gaits and the other 11 cases had some disability which was due ´to severely depressed subtalar joints and displaced fractures.
